How to disassemble the headlight of the Volkswagen Touareg

To remove the front headlight on the Volkswagen Touareg, work with the car off, parking brake engaged, and hood open. Before pulling out the headlight assembly, locate the upper fastening system for the headlight in the engine compartment: in this configuration, the headlight is released by acting on the locking/unlocking mechanism located at the top, near the headlight housing. After unlocking the latch, grasp the headlight and slide it outward with controlled movements, without forcing: the assembly must come out following the guides. When the headlight is partially extracted, stop and move to the back of the assembly to manage the electrical connection. Disconnect the main connector by pressing the lock/tab safety and separate the wiring, avoiding pulling directly on the wires. Once the connector is disconnected, completely remove the headlight and check that the housing and guides are clear and clean, to avoid misalignment during reinstallation. During reinstallation, first connect the connector, then insert the headlight assembly into the guides, pushing it into place linearly and restoring the locking mechanism; finally, check the alignment with the bumper and fender and verify the correct operation of the lights.
