The Volkswagen Golf MK5 features a traditional mechanical handbrake that operates on the rear brake calipers in a combined manner. When you pull the lever, the metal cables are pulled, and the central lever distributes the force evenly across both wheels and the rear calipers, with the cable operating an external lever.

This lever rotates a screw mechanism inside the piston, which is mechanically pushed against the pads that press on the disc. This locks the car. When you release the lever, the cables loosen, the return spring in the caliper returns the lever to its resting position, the piston retracts, and the pads move apart.

The car is free.

Replacing the Gear Knob on the Mercedes Sprinter MK 2

With regular use, the gear knob on the Mercedes Sprinter may show signs of wear that necessitate its replacement. To carry out the replacement, sit in the driver's seat, and using a pair of pliers, rotate the knob left and right to unlock it. Grip the knob and gently pull it off while ensuring that the spring mounted on the lever does not get lost. Take the new knob, align it with the gear pattern, tap it on gently, and finish inserting it using a rubber mallet.
