On the Volkswagen Golf 5, the key battery is replaced by carefully opening the remote without damaging the plastic. In the video, it shows that first, locate the point to separate the two halves of the shell and use a flat tool to lever in the gap just enough to release the catch.

Once the key is opened, you reach the battery area: remove the button cell battery and insert the new one in the same position. Then, close the remote by aligning the edges until everything fits back together, ensuring that the shell is securely closed and that the buttons remain free without sticking.
