How to Convert a Volkswagen/Skoda Key to a Newer Model

To convert a Volkswagen or Skoda key to a newer model (with 3 buttons and a central LED), first, separate the two main parts of the old key (the part with the blade and the part with the remote). Open the remote and remove the battery, then gently extract the circuit board. Take the new key (available on Amazon with code B0F6L5ML2V for £16.99, with free delivery) and remove the battery cover. Secure the battery contact in place and insert the battery. Install the circuit board in the correct position inside the new shell and secure it with the screw. The most important step: do not forget the immobiliser chip. It is located in the part of the key with the blade, sometimes it is glued and must be removed very carefully to avoid breaking it. The new shell has a specific housing for the chip: insert it there (it is acceptable to glue it). Complete the assembly of the new key by securely closing all parts. Finally, test the operation of the three buttons: if everything works, the key is ready for use.
