Replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003
Part: Engine coolant temperature sensor

To replace the temperature sensor, open the bonnet and locate it in the position shown in the video. It is located low on the right side of the engine block and should be green, as shown in the video. To extract it, first remove the clip, which is a flat piece open on one side like a fork. Then, extract the clip to free the temperature sensor. This is not only a replacement but also a check, as I had coolant leaks upon reassembling the sensor. If you need to replace the temperature sensor, be very careful to reposition the rubber ring that acts as a sealing gasket to avoid coolant leaks. It is a simple operation that, if done carefully, can save you the cost of a garage intervention. Car model: VW GOLF 2.0 petrol manual year 2001.
Necessary tools: straight and/or curved fine-nose pliers.
