In this tutorial, you will see how to replace the spark plugs in a Volkswagen Golf 5 1.6. For this simple operation, in addition to the replacement spark plugs, you will need a spark plug socket and a ratchet. First, ensure that the key is not in the ignition and that the engine is cold, then open the bonnet, remove the cover, and disconnect the power leads from each spark plug. Next, proceed to unscrew the first spark plug, being careful not to apply excessive force; if necessary, use some penetrating spray. Finally, screw in the replacements using a torque wrench set to about 10 Nm, if available.
