How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Volkswagen Golf 4?

To replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Golf 4, open the bonnet to access the left side of the engine bay. Here, you will find a plastic cover that needs to be removed to access the pulleys underneath. After detaching the valve cover, you can remove the camshaft pulleys, thus sliding out the belt and replacing it with a new one. You will also need to reinsert the pulleys and all other engine components that were removed to take out the belt.
