How to Change the Gearbox Oil on a Volkswagen Transporter T4

Learn how to easily change the gearbox oil on a manual Volkswagen Transporter T4. First, unscrew the bolts of the left rear wheel, the passenger side, and then safely lift the vehicle. Do not rely too much on your jack; if you have nothing else, after removing the wheel, place it under the chassis for safety. Now locate the gearbox oil plug. We will also change the plug. You will need a 17 mm spanner and synthetic gearbox oil. The original Volkswagen oil costs about £11 per litre on Amazon. As for the plug, it costs just a few pounds. Remove the plug and let the oil drain into a suitable container, which you will dispose of at an authorised centre. Once it has fully drained, screw in the new plug and refill the oil from the top of the engine. Check the level and replace the wheel. Job done.
