Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
MK 4, Golf IV, Golf 4
- Years 1997-2003 In this video, we see some instructions to avoid a problem that sometimes occurs: the melting of the fuses located physically on the battery. This can be avoided in several ways: the first is to check the black cable that goes from the fuse panel to the alternator: if it has been pinched somewhere, the alternator will not receive enough current. The second is to check if the nut that tightens the black cable on the fuse panel is loose; in this case, it must be tightened. The third concerns the ring terminal of the black cable that holds the nut. If this does not have a perfect contact with the 110 amp fuse, then the end of the cable (or the entire cable) will need to be replaced. In case of emergency, we can clean the ring terminal with sandpaper, but it is only a temporary remedy until a service is reached. The fourth possibility: if the 110 amp fuse is oxidized or burned, replace it with a new one, and also check the other smaller 30 amp fuses. Finally, let's check the voltage regulator of the alternator, which could cause problems.
