To adjust the handbrake on the Volkswagen Golf, loosen the screws securing the central tunnel cover. Once the screws are loosened, you can completely remove the cover to access the components underneath.

Here, locate the bolt connected to the handbrake cable: loosening this bolt will increase the handbrake travel, making it lighter. Conversely, tightening the bolt will reduce the handbrake travel, making it firmer.

After the adjustment, reinstall the cover.
