To replace the battery of a Volkswagen Atlas key, start by getting a replacement battery of the correct type, a CR2032. Find the slot for opening the key, located on the back. Use a flathead screwdriver or a thin object to gently open the slot and separate the two halves of the key. Once opened, locate the old battery inside the battery compartment and carefully remove it using a small screwdriver or similar object. Make sure to note the orientation of the battery. Insert the new battery replacing the old one, making sure to pay attention to the correct orientation. Close the key shell, making sure the two pieces fit together properly. Perform a test to verify that the key functions correctly, ensuring that the buttons respond as expected and that the key can still open and close the doors and start the vehicle. Once the correct functioning of the key is confirmed, dispose of the old battery safely and appropriately.
