What is the problem with the Volkswagen New Beetle's convertible top?

In this video we can see what the problem is with the convertible top that has difficulty opening and closing on the Volkswagen New Beetle. It is a sensor issue, which, due to their placement on the top frame, tend to oxidize and malfunction easily. They have no protection and are exposed to all weather conditions, making them prone to malfunctioning quite easily. The solution is to replace them, as shown by the YouTuber: we need to disassemble the pillars, then remove the components holding the fasteners in place and replace the sensor. Unfortunately, these sensors are not easily found. They can be found quite easily as used, for example on eBay by typing "New Beetle convertible top sensors" and the price is around 50.00 euros + shipping costs. Since they are used parts, we cannot provide an exact indication.
