How do you replace the third brake light bulb of the Volkswagen New Beetle?

In order to replace the third brake light bulb of the Volkswagen New Beetle, you need to open the rear hatch, loosening the screws that hold the inner trim panel: once these screws are loosened, you can remove this panel and locate the internal screws that secure the third brake light assembly. Loosening the screws and disconnecting the connector, you can remove the light from its housing and extract the bulb from inside. This can be replaced with a new spare part, then reassemble all the components previously removed.
