To replace the third brake light bulb on a Volkswagen New Beetle, open the rear hatch by loosening the screws that secure the internal trim panel: once these screws are loosened, you can detach this panel and locate the internal screws that secure the third brake light assembly.

By loosening these screws and disconnecting the connector, you can pull the light from its housing and remove the bulb inside.

This can then be replaced with a new spare part, and all previously removed components can be reassembled.
