How do you replace the rear shock absorber on a Yamaha Tmax 530?

Don't worry, changing the rear shock absorber is not impossible but it requires a bit of skill and patience. Put the scooter on a stand and remove the rear fairing to access the shock absorber.

Unscrew the upper and lower bolts of the shock absorber, use some penetrating oil if they are tight. The swingarm may lower so support it with a jack or a box. Once you have removed the old shock absorber, insert the new one, put the bolts back in and tighten them well, and make sure everything is aligned.

Reassemble the fairing, take a test ride, and enjoy the difference. If you don't feel comfortable doing it on your own, contact a trusted workshop.
