Descriptive guide for changing the engine oil and oil filter of a Yamaha YZF R3 from 2016 to 2018. Obtain 3 litres of Yamalube SAE 10w40 oil, Yamaha oil filter 5GH-13440-50, and Yamaha washer 4YS-E1198-00. Position the bike on the rear stand. Place a container for collecting the oil for disposal under the engine. Unscrew the engine oil drain plug, located at the bottom front of the engine, using a ratchet and a 14mm socket. Allow all the oil to drain out. Meanwhile, clean the plug thoroughly and replace the aluminium gasket. Using an oil filter wrench, unscrew the oil filter located at the front of the engine. Lightly oil the gasket of the new filter and screw it on, first by hand, then tighten it a turn with the oil filter wrench. Screw the oil drain plug back in. Open the oil filler cap located on the right side of the engine casing, at the bottom. Pour in two litres of oil first, then add the remaining oil according to the oil level inspection hole located to the left of the plug. Start the bike, let it warm up, and switch off. Once the engine is cool, recheck the oil level with the bike upright on the rear stand. To reset the oil service, turn the ignition key, press the button on the lower left until the mileage with the word OIL appears, hold the button until the mileage and the word OIL start to flash until 0 appears, then you can release the button and switch off the ignition.
