Descriptive guide for replacing the engine oil and oil filter on a Yamaha XT660. Obtain 3 litres of Motul 7100 SAE 10W40 oil and a HIFLO HF145 oil filter. Position the motorcycle on its side stand. Start the engine, let it reach temperature, and then switch off. Place a container for collecting the used oil under the engine. Using a ratchet and a 13mm socket, undo the oil drain plug located at the front of the engine. Allow the oil to drain and clean the plug thoroughly. Using a ratchet and a 4mm Allen bit, undo the three screws of the filter cover located on the right side. Remove the oil filter with pliers and replace it with the new one. Open the oil filler cap located at the front of the lower tank. Pour in the oil, referring to the dipstick. Start the engine for one minute and switch off. Check the oil level again.
