This guide shows how to replace the engine oil of the Yamaha TMax 500 scooter. No specific tools are required for this operation. For disposing of the old lubricant, it is advisable to contact a specialised centre. The first step is to secure the scooter and place a container under the oil sump plug, located on the left side between the two stands. After unscrewing the closing plug, allow all the fluid to drain; clean the plug and screw it back in place. Under the footboard, there is the oil filter that needs to be replaced using the appropriate tool. At this stage, it is likely that some oil will still leak out. Lubricate the seal of the new filter with oil and refit it in position. Fill the reservoir with new oil, complying with the specifications required by the manufacturer. You will need a bit more oil than specified in the manual to fill the new filter. Now, start the scooter to circulate the oil correctly. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes, then check the oil level; top up if necessary.
