How to Replace the Remote Key Cover of an Audi A3

Over time, the buttons on the remote key may fade or even become damaged. You can purchase an aftermarket remote key cover, to which you will attach the original mechanical key (blade) and the electronic circuit. Start by removing the rear cap of the remote, which also houses the battery. Next, unscrew the small screws that hold the two halves of the remote together and separate them by rotating the upper half to release the spring of the blade. Then, transfer the blade and circuit into the new cover, compressing the spring before inserting the battery.
