Gear Knob Replacement on Audi A3

Model: Audi A3 MK 2, 8P - Years 2003-2013

Start the job by pulling the gear gaiter out of its housing, simply by tugging it by hand. If you have difficulty, use a plastic wedge to assist. Lift the gaiter as much as you can, then lower the black circular clip and remove the metal clip with a flat-head screwdriver, as shown in the video. At this point, you can pull out the gaiter and gear knob from the side. Insert the new knob and gaiter in the correct orientation, indicated by the groove on the gear lever. Reverse the process, tightening the metal clip and then placing the gaiter back in position.
