To replace the gear knob on an Audi A3, detach the retaining clips located at the base of the gear gaiter so that it can be completely lifted. After the gaiter is lifted, remove the hook underneath that connects the gaiter to the knob: the knob will then be free and can be pulled off from the top of the gear lever. This allows you to insert the new knob, connecting it to the new gaiter via the hook underneath; finally, secure the gear gaiter to its base.
