To replace the automatic gear shift knob on an Audi A6, use a tool to pry at the base of the leather boot so that it can be fully lifted. This will allow you to detach the pin that connects the leather boot to the knob at the top of the lever; doing so will let you remove both components. Position the new knob at the end of the lever and fit the leather boot back onto its base. Once the installation is complete, ensure that all parts are securely fastened.
