In this tutorial, you will see how to replace the automatic shift knob on an Audi A6, a very simple and quick operation. First, go inside the cabin and make sure the gear lever is in the "P" position. Using a plastic trim tool to avoid leaving marks, carefully pry off the base trim of the shift boot. Next, locate the indicated plastic ring, rotate it counterclockwise, and pull the knob upward with force. At this point, simply transfer the boot to the replacement knob if necessary, and reassemble everything.
