Check Timing Belt Wear on Audi A4 B8

Model: Audi A4 B8 - Years 2007-2016
Part: Timing belt

With the introduction of new materials in the automotive industry, many maintenance intervals have increased: for instance, before synthetic oils were introduced, engine oil replacement was scheduled every 3,100 mi, while now it has shifted to so-called long-life programs where oil changes are performed every 18,600 mi; similarly, the mileage for the timing belt has significantly increased from 56,000 mi to 99,500 mi. In any case, it is still advisable to periodically check the wear status of the belt: simply remove the cover on the engine and detach the clips of the plastic cover that protects the timing belt: if there are no signs of cracks, splits, or fraying, you can reassemble everything and repeat the check after another 6,200 mi.
