Replace the External Mirror Positioning Knob

Model: Audi A4 B6 - Years 2000-2004

The small knob for adjusting the position of the external rearview mirror is located on the door panel. First, remove the panel. Using a suitable tool, pry off the silver trim above the panel. Unscrew the upper screws holding the panel. Below the handle, there is another small cover; after removing this, unscrew the 2 screws underneath. Finally, unscrew the last screw located at the bottom of the panel. Now you can remove the panel by detaching it from the door with a suitable tool and lifting it to disengage. Once detached, disconnect the lock cable. Disconnect the power cable from the door and the housing. Now, remove the domed plastic cover from the inner panel using the appropriate tool to unscrew the screws. Lift the armrest from the panel. Locate the knob you need to replace and gently remove it from its housing with a screwdriver. To install the new knob, simply reverse the previous steps. The vehicle is an Audi A4.
