Here’s how to change the gear knob on an Audi vehicle: we will change only the knob without replacing the gaiter, as the knob is usually sold with the gaiter, and it is not easy to remove the new knob from its gaiter. You need to unlock the ring that holds the inner part of the knob in place. Now, you must fit the new knob into the old gaiter; remember that the knob has a specific orientation (otherwise, you won’t be able to engage the gears), take the locking ring that secures the knob shaft. Now, fit it onto the gear lever, tighten it to the shaft, and secure the gaiter in its housing at the base. Operation complete.
