How to repair a starter motor

In this video we can see how to repair a starter motor: this one is from a BMW car, but the process is roughly the same for all. After removing it from its housing, we open it by removing the fixing bolts and start cleaning it with a wire brush. We clean the exterior and then also the inside of the cover. We open it, dividing it in two and brush every detail well, then clean all the components with a microfiber cloth. With a P600 we clean the coarser details, and we use the P1000 for the brushes and the finer details. When we are sure that everything is perfectly clean, then we use a synthetic grease spray to lubricate all the parts, and a bearing grease for those most prone to wear. Now we can reassemble the starter motor and put it back in its place; it will be perfectly functional with little expense.
