How to Replace the Timing Chain on BMW with N47 Engine

Replacing the timing chain on a car engine is a rather complex operation. If the engine is already dismantled, the task will be simpler. Follow the key steps outlined in this video and description. First, remove all the bolts securing the cylinder head. Next, detach the starter motor and remove all the bolts securing the oil sump. Then, take off the timing chain protection cover, loosen the chain tensioners, and importantly, position pins on the gears of both the camshaft and the crankshaft to prevent losing the timing. At this point, you can remove the chain and replace it with the new one.
