Let's see how to replace the coolant sensor on a BMW Series 3 E46 version: to comfortably access the sensor, we need to remove the alternator; there are two of them. The upper one is for the coolant temperature, while the lower one is for the oil pressure. Let's focus on the upper one by disconnecting the electrical connector, and then remove it using a 22 mm ratchet and an extension. We can find the replacement part, for example, on auto-doc. It has the code 830C0006 and costs 6.90 euros plus 9.90 euros for shipping. Let's replace it, reconnect the electrical connector, and of course, we need to put the alternator back in place!
