In this brief guide, you will learn the main steps to remove the instrument cluster from the dashboard of a BMW Z3 E36, first generation. First, get inside the vehicle and start the removal process; to remove the cluster, leverage the sides where the tabs are located, pulling it forward.

Once extracted from the dashboard, disconnect the electrical connector found at the back; you will then have access to the bulbs in the cluster for replacement. For reassembly, simply follow the reverse procedure!
