How do you open the tailgate of the BMW 1 Series when it is locked?

To be able to open the tailgate of the BMW 1 Series when it is locked, the lever that allows you to tilt the rear seats must be lowered to gain access to the tailgate from the inside. Here you will find a small cover that will need to be pulled out; attached to the cover, there will be a rope that will need to be pulled. By pulling this cord, the tailgate will be unlocked and it will therefore be possible to open it from the outside. After unlocking it will be possible to reposition the rope in its housing and raise the seats again. It is recommended to replace the battery if the tailgate of the car does not open in the traditional way.
