How to open the blocked tailgate in the BMW 1 Series?

In the BMW 1 Series, it may happen that the trunk hatch gets stuck, for example due to a problem with the control button or the lock actuator. In these cases, we can still perform the emergency opening following the simple procedure shown in this tutorial. First, we open the rear doors, then we lower the backrest of the seat by activating the corresponding release lever. Next, we go inside the trunk compartment, locate the lock, and actuate it using a flat-tipped screwdriver. The trunk hatch will now be free to open.
