BMW Serie 5 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Windshield
Operation: Windshield disassembly instructions

On all cars, the windshield is glued with a special mastic which guarantees, as well as fixing, perfect sealing: in order to remove it, it must therefore be unglued or cut the layer of mastic along the edges. In this regard, a special steel cable is used which is able to make its way along the perimeter of the windshield; then pass one end of the cable pushing it through the lower edge with a special fork screwdriver, then hook the special handle to the other end and slide the cable along the perimeter of the windshield (it is necessary to perform the operation in two, one inside and the other outside the passenger compartment); once the perimeter has been completed, remove the windshield, perhaps with the aid of suction cup handles.
