Rebooting the BMW iDrive System

Sometimes the iDrive system in BMWs needs a reboot to fix bugs or eliminate certain issues. To do this, sit in the driver's seat, turn on the ignition, and press and hold the volume button on the centre console until the central display turns off after about ten seconds. While still holding the volume, wait another ten seconds until the display turns back on, confirm the message that appears, and the procedure will be complete. Turn off the ignition, and upon the next start-up, you will have confirmation of the operation's success.
