How to Restart the BMW Idrive System

In this video, see how to restart the BMW Idrive operating system: with the vehicle on (but the engine off), press and hold the volume button for 30 seconds; during this time, the infotainment screen will turn off, but continue to hold the button until you reach 30 seconds. Then release the button and press it again after at least another 30 seconds to restart the system. The system will power back on, which should be sufficient to complete the restart, useful if you have encountered software issues, such as apps not loading or problems with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
