Rear Hood Release Button Repair

If pressing the rear hood release button does not open the hood, there may be a malfunction of the micro switch or the rubber covering of the button may be deformed enough to not contact the micro switch. You need to remove the button from its housing on the hood, take out the metal tab that holds the micro switch in place, and extract it. At this point, try pressing directly on the micro switch to see if the lock responds. If it does, then the problem is definitely with the rubber of the button, which needs to be repositioned carefully with attention to the underlying springs.
