Here is a procedure for programming the remote that this friendly YouTuber performs on his 2005 Chevy Silverado. The procedure is valid for all vehicles with a physical key. Insert the key into the ignition switch without turning it, and press and hold the door lock button (the one to close the doors) on the door panel.

While holding it, quickly turn the key twice: the doors should lock automatically, and you will hear a beep from the horn. Now you are in programming mode: take the new remote and press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 30 seconds.

The doors will lock and unlock by themselves: this means the remote has been programmed correctly. To exit programming mode, simply turn on the ignition.
