How to Replace the Lambda Sensor on a Dacia Duster

The Dacia Duster 1.6 petrol has two lambda sensors: one on the exhaust manifold (upstream of the catalytic converter) and one after the catalytic converter. When the engine warning light comes on with a sensor error, they need to be replaced. Work with the engine cold and use a 22 mm side-opening socket for the sensors. Disconnect the electrical connector, spray penetrating oil on the thread, and unscrew the sensor. You can find the pair of new sensors on eBay with the code 206188206276 for £49.90 plus £15.00 for delivery. Install the new sensor by hand, then tighten with the socket. Reconnect the connector. Repeat for the other sensor. Lambda sensors detect oxygen in the exhaust gases and adjust the air-fuel mixture. A faulty sensor can increase fuel consumption and emissions. After replacement, clear the error codes with a diagnostic tool.
