What Type of Engine Does the Dacia Duster Have?

The diesel engine fitted in the Dacia vehicles is produced by Renault in partnership with the Nissan group. The 1500 diesel Energy engine has been in production since 2011 and is a smaller sibling of the Renault-owned K engine. The base is the same as the 1600 version, albeit with significant modifications, reducing the displacement to 1461cc and adopting Common Rail technology. This engine is also known as k9k and, in spring 2012, underwent a variation, being offered with an integrated start-stop system and energy recovery during braking, along with exhaust gas recirculation. The latest evolution was introduced in 2015 to comply with Euro 6 anti-pollution regulations, featuring a technological innovation with steel pistons replacing the previous aluminium ones.
