How to change the engine oil and oil filter on a Fiat Punto

To change the engine oil and filter on a second series Fiat Punto, start the engine for a few minutes to make the oil more fluid, then turn off the vehicle, lift it safely, and place a container under the sump. Unscrew the drain plug and let the oil drain completely.

Remove the oil filter with a suitable tool and clean the mounting surface. Install the new filter after lubricating the seal with a bit of new oil and tighten it by hand.

Reinstall the drain plug with the corresponding seal and lower the vehicle. Pour the new oil through the top cap, using the quantity specified by the engine.

Start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and check the level with the dipstick, topping up if necessary to the correct level.
