Operation: Replacement window lift mechanism on Fiat Idea

If the electric side window stops working, but you hear the motor running, the window mechanism will almost certainly be worn. It is a slightly complex cable mechanism that raises and lowers the side windows on command of the motor. Replacing it is an operation that requires manual skills but can also be done at home with classic tools. First remove the fabric panel of the door and unscrew the internal sheet metal panel that covers the inside of the door. Without removing it completely, fold it down without disconnecting the electrical connections. If you have already purchased the correct new mechanism, you will notice where the 4 screws that hold the mechanism hooked to the sheet metal are located. Block the glass with a stopper to keep it from slipping and remove the bolts that secure the window regulator. Now detach the working motor and mount it in place on the mechanism. Now fix the bolts to keep the new part in place, manually hold the crystal and proceed to re-attach the sheet metal panel to cover. Leave the glass only when you have also partially fixed the panel. Take advantage of a clean and refit the fabric panel.
