Replacing Brake Pads

Replacing the front brake pads is relatively straightforward. The necessary tools are: a half-inch ratchet with 13, 17, and 19 mm hex sockets; an adjustable spanner; a 6 mm flat screwdriver; grease and penetrating lubricant; and the screw jack provided with the vehicle.

The possibly most challenging part is retracting the piston, which can be done with a spanner or with specially designed kits.

The car used as an example here is a Fiat 500, but the procedure is very similar for most vehicles.
