How to replace the front brake pads of the Fiat 500L

Let's see how to replace the front brake pads of a Fiat 500L: we will need a jack, a cross wrench, a 13/18 wrench, pliers, copper grease and a piston pusher. Start by lifting the car at its front, then remove the front wheels and unlock the brake caliper by disconnecting the brake pad wear sensor (if present) and unscrewing the two rear bolts of the caliper, using the 13/18 wrench. Lift the caliper and hang it with a wire to the shock absorber spring. Now remove the old brake pads, removing them from their seat, and push back the piston with the appropriate tool, or with a clamp. Install the new pads, applying copper grease on the sliding pins, then insert the pads, making sure they are in the correct position. Reassemble the caliper and tighten the bolts. Repeat on the other side. Be careful not to force the piston if it does not retract: it may be necessary to open the brake fluid reservoir. A recommendation: while we are at it, let's check the thickness of the brake discs!
