This action is fundamental for most maintenance tasks you will perform on your car. First, open the driver's door; it is advisable to park the vehicle on level ground and engage the handbrake. Locate the lever under the steering column on the left side.

Pull it towards you. Then move to the bonnet area, which should have released in the meantime. Pull the metal lever and open it.
