How does Ford's intelligent AWD and 4WD system work?

The intelligent all-wheel drive does everything by itself; in fact, the system monitors hundreds of data to prevent the vehicle from slipping on roads with poor grip, sending the necessary torque to the wheels accordingly. In normal weather conditions, it directs all power to the front wheels to improve efficiency. If you accelerate strongly, it can also distribute it to the rear wheels. To monitor this function, use the switch on the steering wheel, go to the main menu, select the display mode and confirm: we will see the intelligent all-wheel drive in action, through the illumination of the graphic bars. Explorer models can also have the "terrain management system", which is a system managed by the driver, which allows you to change gears quickly and optimize various vehicle systems to adapt to road conditions: the default setting is "normal", while the "mud" function is for muddy and rough terrains; "sand" for sandy or gravelly terrains; "snow" for snow and grass, ice and water. Finally, the descent control, to tackle steep descents without using the brake pedal.
