How to Replace the Air Filter in a Ford Focus

To replace the engine air filter on a Ford Focus, work with the engine off and preferably cold. Open the bonnet and locate the air filter box in the engine compartment. Access the airbox cover by releasing the clips or screws present (the configuration may vary depending on the trim and engine) and lift the cover enough to extract the filter. Remove the old filter, taking care not to let dust or debris fall into the intake duct, then quickly clean the seating if necessary (without pushing dirt inside). Insert the new filter, ensuring it is oriented and aligned correctly in the guide, then close the airbox, making sure the cover seals properly and all clips are securely locked. Before closing the bonnet, check that any nearby hoses and wiring are not under tension or misaligned.
