Replacing the Battery in a Ford Focus

If the battery in your Ford Focus is flat and does not hold charge after subsequent attempts to recharge, it needs replacing. Open the bonnet and locate the battery on the driver's side, near the windscreen. Start by loosening the two screws that secure the bracket holding the battery in place, using a 10 mm socket. Next, using the same socket, disconnect the two terminals from the battery, starting with the negative terminal. Ensure the cables are positioned so they do not touch metal parts and do not obstruct the removal of the battery. Remove the battery by pushing it back and slightly rotating it upwards; this can be a bit tricky due to limited space. Install the new battery by reversing the steps.
