How to Change the Brakes on the Jaguar F-Type Yourself

On the Jaguar F-Type, brake work is performed with the vehicle secured, working on one axle at a time. After loosening the wheel bolts and properly lifting the affected side, remove the wheel and bring the fluid reservoir to the check level to avoid spills when retracting the pistons. Release the caliper by removing the clips and guide screws, then lift the caliper and extract the set of worn brake pads. Before inserting the replacements, retract the pistons evenly using the appropriate tool and clean the seating area of dust and debris, applying a thin layer of anti-noise product where required on the contact points. If the video also shows disc replacement, remove the caliper bracket, unscrew the disc fixing screws, clean the hub thoroughly, and fit the new disc ensuring correct seating, then restore the torque of the reassembled components. Insert the new pads, close the caliper with its fixings, and replace the retaining clip as specified by the manufacturer. When closing the side, refit the wheel, tighten it temporarily, and repeat the same operation on the other side of the axle. For fluid replacement, connect the bleeding device or perform the manual procedure from the bleed screw furthest from the pump to the nearest, keeping the reservoir topped up with fluid as specified on the vehicle; let the fluid out until it runs clean and bubble-free. After bleeding, restore the level in the reservoir, clean the work areas, tighten the wheel bolts to the specified torque, and before driving off, pump the brake pedal until it feels firm and check for leaks. Finally, carry out a short bedding-in process for the pads.
