How to Replace the Cabin Air Filter on a Jeep Renegade

The cabin air filter or pollen filter determines the quality of the air introduced into the cabin through the air vents and should be replaced approximately once a year. On the Jeep Renegade, the cabin filter is located on the passenger side, and to replace it, first, remove the glove compartment, which is secured to the dashboard with seven screws. The first three screws will be located just below the glove compartment, and you can simply pull back a section of carpet to access them. After removing the first three screws, you will find another three screws positioned along the upper edge inside the glove compartment, which also need to be removed before proceeding to locate the last screw. To unscrew the last screw, remove the plastic cap on the right side of the glove compartment, which is usually inaccessible with the door closed; this will be secured with four clips, and you can lever it off. Once removed, you will have access to the last screw, which can be unscrewed, and you will need to slightly force the glove compartment outward to detach it from the dashboard. Once the glove compartment is detached, disconnect the light power connector to remove it completely from the car, which will give access to the compartment housing the cabin filter, identifiable by a honeycomb-patterned cover secured with a screw. After removing the screw, the cover will come off easily, and you will finally have access to the filter, which can be pulled out and replaced with a new one. Once the new filter is inserted, complete the job by reattaching the cover and remounting the glove compartment in the reverse order of disassembly, ensuring to reconnect the light power connector.
