Cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor

The mass air flow sensor is a flow meter fitted to many engines to measure the amount of air drawn into the engine. Remove the sensor from the air intake, taking care not to drop the screws.

Due to the delicate components of the sensor, clean the inside of the flow meter with a gentle stream of air, or better yet, use a small vacuum to prevent dust from penetrating deeper. Clean the exterior with a clean cloth dampened with a light deoxidising fluid.

Carefully refit the component by reconnecting the connector and check the proper functioning of the instrument.
