How to change the oil and filter on a Kia Sportage

Model: Kia Sportage SL, MK 3 - Years 2010-2016
Part: Checks and maintenance

Let's see how to change the oil and filters for a Kia Sportage. The oil change kit can be found for example on E-bay for 104.49 including delivery costs, and includes 6 liters of SAE 5W30 oil, the fuel filter, the air filter, the cabin filter and the oil filter. Let's also get a basin for draining the oil, which we will then go to dispose of in an authorized center. First we open the oil cap on the upper tank, then we go under the car and with a 17 mm wrench we open the oil sump to let it flow into the basin. It is advisable to change the cap, or at least the gasket, when changing the oil. Now let's replace the filter. Here too we are going to drain some oil.
